West Sacramento Says They Lead The Region With Pay Raise For First Responders

West Sacramento has established itself as a regional leader in public safety compensation following an agreement that brings significant increases for its first responders.

Starting July 1, this three-year labor deal with the West Sacramento Firefighters Association elevates the department to the highest-paid in the area, according to the association's president.

The agreement includes competitive salary hikes, enhanced benefits packages, longevity pay, wellness reimbursements, and education incentives. This raise extends beyond the fire department, benefiting the city’s police department as well.

Supported by Measure O, a one-cent sales tax approved last year, Mayor Martha Guerrero and the Firefighters Association emphasize that this initiative will strengthen safety, workforce retention, and community trust.

The agreement covers July 2025 through June 2028.
